June Bug Short Striker Hybrid Fishing Lure

Named for my Gram June, this lure carries a little bit of memory and a whole lot of bite.

The June Bug is a hand-crafted hybrid lure that blends the flash and vibration of a hammered spoon with the lifelike movement of a traditional feathered fly. It’s designed for those moments when fish follow… but don’t fully commit. That’s where the short striker comes in.

The spoon draws them in with shimmer and wobble, while the trailing feathered hook seals the deal with subtle motion that looks alive even on the pause.

Why fish hit it:
The hammered spoon throws off irregular flashes, mimicking fleeing baitfish and aquatic insects, the soft feathered tail breathes and pulses in the water, triggering instinct strikes. Pheasant and gold wrapped body of the fly glistens again, pulling fish back if a miss occurred. With iridescent green pheasant wrap, white brown quail tail and hackle and gold flat wrap, finished with a hammered spoon is just as pretty as it is effective.

How to fish it:
